Bushwood

The Bushwood proposals refer to land to the West of Luton.  That may be geographically correct but glosses over the fact that the overwhelming majority of this land falls beyond the boundaries of Luton Borough and is in fact in Central Bedfordshire; there is a motorway along the edge of the site separating Bushwood from the very communities they claim to serve.  The site has a confused and troubled identity before it has even left the drawing board!

 

The Bushwood development seeks to build over 800 acres of green belt land; it would extend to the edges of the existing villages and create irreversible urban sprawl.  There are serious doubts over the viability of the project as proposed; we simply do not believe that all the benefits pledged will actually be delivered.  We fear gridlock and pollution as they attempt to dump the traffic from 5,000 new houses and associated businesses onto local roads.  We can not see that this massive and inappropriate development would benefit anyone other than the developers who would take the profit and then move on.
